No, we run a level-to-level fuel policy, for example, if you pick up a vehicle with half a tank of fuel in it, then you must return it with a half a tank of fuel.

No, unfortunately there are many extraneous variables that could affect the logistics and planning in allocating vehicles (maintenance, faults, thefts, breakdowns, damages, unexpected rental extensions. etc. the list goes on. As much as we’d love to be able to promise something specific there is just no certain way of guaranteeing this.

Direct vision and road safety

The Direct Vision Standard measures how much an HGV driver can see directly through their cab windows. This indicates the level of risk to vulnerable road users, such as people walking and cycling, near the vehicle.

The Direct Vision Standard and HGV safety permit for HGVs is part of the Mayor of London’s Vision Zero plan to eliminate all deaths and serious injuries on London’s transport network by 2041.

HGV safety permit and requirements

Whether or not the operator considers the vehicle to meet the standards, all lorries over 12 tonnes (GVW) entering or operating in Greater London need to hold a valid HGV safety permit before using the area to avoid receiving a PCN.

The HGV safety permit scheme covers most of Greater London and is in operation 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Applying for a permit is free of charge.

For more information about the scheme, you can view a map of where it operates or read the HGV safety permit guidance for operators entering London document on the link below:

Return Conditions

‘Wear and tear’ is the result of normal usage. However, specific events, damage and collisions are not included as ‘wear and tear’. You can be charged if damage has to be rectified or specific items need to be replaced.

Centurion Truck Rental endeavour to make the process of returning vehicles, fair, cost-effective, and problem-free.

Prior to the return of Contract Hire Vehicles, a representative of Centurion Truck Rental will liaise to organise the inspection of the vehicle.

They will:

  • List any specific issues and discuss them with you
  • Suggest the most cost-effective ways to return the vehicle to an acceptable state

The above process will protect your deposit value with no hidden or surprise costs at the point of return.
